The complaint about me using Elder Futhark to spell my name originated with one of the other members of Facebook. Somewhere someone did not like the fact that I have my name written in runes. Yes, that’s right someone filed an official complaint against me with Facebook over it. It was then that I got a message from Facebook. Here is a screenshot of the message I received.
Upon receiving this notice I was immediately pissed off and did a lot of homework to validate why my name was in runes. Upon doing the homework needed, I was able to determine not only had I not violated the community standards and rules but I had valid reasoning for using Elder Futhark to spell out my name. Now according to the rules for names, it can not have symbols which in my mind include things like the &, or * or any other number of symbols.
According to the Dictionary, a symbol is defined as “a letter, figure, or other character or mark or a combination of letters or the like used to designate something:” at https://www.dictionary.com/browse/symbol?s=t . If you ask me that can include every character in virtually every language or script. The Dictionary goose on to say that a language is defined as “any system of formalized symbols, signs, sounds, gestures, or the like used or conceived as a means of communicating thought, emotion, etc.” which can be found at https://www.dictionary.com/browse/language?s=t . Based on that meaning alone the Elder Futhark Runes fall directly into the category of a language.
I then went into looking at the exact meaning, use, and definition of Elder Futhark in not only the Norse or Viking communities but also 1 additional source.
According to Sunny Way at http://www.sunnyway.com/runes/meanings.html Elder Futhark Runes are defined as “Elder Futhark, the runic alphabet which is a composite of the runic symbols most commonly used in northern Europe”. According to the Rune Site at http://www.therunesite.com/elder-futhark-rune-meanings/ The runes are defined as “The Elder Futhark consists of 24 runes divided into three groups of eight, known as an ætt (singular of ættir), which are said to be ruled over by both a god and goddess. And finally, according to OmniGlot at https://www.omniglot.com/writing/runic.htm The Elder Futhark runes are in fact amongst the oldest version of the runic alphabet. They even go on to say “The earliest known Runic inscriptions date from the 1st century AD, but the vast majority of Runic inscriptions date from the 11th century. Runic inscriptions have been found throughout Europe from the Balkans to Germany, Scandinavia, and the British Isles.”
Now based on all of this research not that I wasn’t aware of some of this information before, but now more than ever not only do I or did I feel like Facebook was targeting me and discriminating me for using an old language, but discriminating against The Norse religion as a whole, and the Edler Furthark. It was then that I decided, I was not going to give in to the tyranny of Facebook and that Id fights them tooth and nails the way our ancestors would have dealt with problems. We do so with pride and the sheer will power and determination of characters like Ragnar Lothbrook or John Wick, lol.
So how do I do it? Well, it started with a lengthy response to Facebook through my support inbox. Much of the information I shared with them I have shared here. But I went even further than that. I changed most of the information on our Facebook Group to be written in Elder Futhark Runes as well and had several conversations in threads on Facebook in Elder Furthark Runes with others. The point of that was to get screenshots and prove that people can and do use it as a language as seen above.
Here is the exact response I sent to Facebook.
Like more times then not I have as of yet to get a response from Facebook. And now I am locked out of my account…
After some thought about the situation, I decided to take it further and not only make an initial video for our Youtube, which you can see at https://youtu.be/RxFsJp_T9Sw to allow people to be notified of the situation, and how we would be proceeding. I also decided that I would start reaching out to various news outlets from USA Today to CNN, Fox News, and many others. Which I have done. I have also connected with reporters directly, that are members of these various networks through my LinkedIn Profile.
Currently, I am awaiting responses from the reporters I contacted directly but also the news outlets themselves. Here is a screenshot of the emails I sent to each of these news media outlets.
I will not give up on this fight. Giant company against us or not, what they have done is not right and I will not back down. I’m also in the process of trying to find an attorney but even for a consult on this matter, Ian Corzine is charging $250. For those of you that don’t know who he is, he’s a well-known attorney that specializes in social media Law. Unfortunately, we don’t have the funds available for the consult let alone, his hourly rates I am afraid. Additionally, with this whole issue of Covid-19, most civil courts are closed at this time so that’s going to slow things down. But if you have the ability and the desire to help with this consult fee to fight for our rights as a Norse people feel free to make a donation on our get involved page at https://norse.faith/get-involved/ under the Monetary Gift Tab.
I will be making another video to outline all of this information for our Youtube channel and I thank you all for the amazing support and dedication not only to me but to this fight and Old Norse Paganism. I love you, and may the gods bless you all and keep you and your families safe.
