Time For Back To School

For our local area its the first day of classes for the local children. Big changes this year as we learn how to adapt and overcome the challenges presented to us with Covid-19. With the Covid-19 Pandemic in full throttle, we here at Old Norse Paganism have had to make some adjustments in the way we do things. Which brings me to my point. Not only are our children being forced to make changes that could very well save their lives but we as an adult have to make changes to ensure their safety as well as the rest of our families.
This carries over too far more than just the Covid-19 pandemic. The ability to adapt and overcome works for almost anything in our lives. As a Norse people, we are renowned for adapting and changing to fit whatever circumstances we are facing. This pandemic and daily life are no different. There is a quote that came from Harald Hardrade who is recorded as being the last known Viking King before he was slain at the end of the Viking Age. It was “Ill is the result of letting fear rule thine actions!”
In other words, do not let fear stop you from making whatever changes you need to make in your lives for the safety and well being of yourselves and your families. You have to take care of yourself first. Use fear as motivation instead of a roadblock.

ONP News & Announcements

We had a lot going on this month. With Richard’s daughter Alyssa passing on this month and his leave of absence, there are a few things we changed up to help Richard as he mourns his loss. And When Richard got back to it boy did he move on some things. Almost like he never missed a beat. With that, he wanted to make sure we got the items listed below into the newsletter. There are several so hold on tight as we drop the hammer and go!

Free 1GB ONP-Mail Account

Old Norse Paganism has made it official and permanent. We will continue offering a FREE 1GB email address to all registered members of the Old Norse Paganism website. Now you will be able to send that email and show your Norse pride at the same time. And with 1GB of storage that’s a lot of space to hold on to those important emails.

Brand New Discord Server

When Richard returned one of the first things he did was go to work, on Discord. He’d seen several other Discord servers that were better laid out and more functional than what he’d ever set up. So it was time to get an upgrade. And boy did he! We now have several chat channels as well as some procedures in place to ensure user safety from spam and hacks and more.As you can see he has really put some time into it and it looks great and is a great resource to connect with other Norse Brothers and sisters as well as having pages of information about Old Norse Paganism. New Link Index

For those of you familiar with Linktr.ee you will quickly recognize the idea behind the ONP Link Index. Richard has us on Linktr.ee as well but was not happy with the pro service and felt he could build something better. So, he did. This thing is awesome! It has all of the Old Norse Paganism major links, has our signature warships in the background as well as some epic stats and a branded URL, to keep all our content branded. So be sure to check out this 1-page website if you need to know how to find us and where!

1st Ever Live Stream Event

On September 1st, Richard will be going live on the Old Norse Paganism Instagram for the first time ever. We are scheduled to start at 7:30 PM CST and will run until Richard says he is ready to end it. LOL Richard is planning to have some light and general conversation related to Norse mythology, history, current events, and so on. He will take some questions throughout the Livestream.

Brand New Patreon

With the shift in sales or lack of sale rather we have had to put more focus on other directions for raising money to keep the site and all of the awesome features Richard keeps adding. So we had to find a way. Knowing The Old Norse Runes

This is a new YouTube exclusive series that our colleague OutroDrift is producing on behalf of Old Norse Paganism. In each of the episodes of this series, Outro covers a specific rune. He tells of how it came to be as well as how you can apply it to your life today. You’ll want to check out this series if you are interested in learning more about the runes and Elder Furthark. Freya’s Day of Fable Changes

This was originally a blog post series but we have converted it into a YouTube exclusive series. This series is now scheduled every Friday to be released at 6:00 PM CST. Here you will hear stories of the past and Tonya will make a correlation to life today. So that you can use these stories as motivation as well as educational tools to help you in your everyday life. We hope you enjoy this new take on Freyas Day of Fables.

Monthly Reports

As normal we have included several images for you to see exactly how we are doing on the website and various social media platforms.

Mail Chimp & Host Stats

Looking at the image below you can see we are steadily increasing in subscribers to this newsletter as well as traffic on the website. By looking at the stats for Mailchimp you can see we have increased our subscriber base 45 where we 220 last month and are now at 265. Additionally, for MailChimp you can see that even with the increase in subscribers our open and click rates have dropped off a little.
If you look at the right-hand side of the image below you will see what our host is telling you we had for the month in regards to website activity. We had some record days this month in the number of unique visitors as well as the amount of returning visits and pages viewed. Overall we are happy with the continuing trend of growth and expect that to continue to trend upwards as time goes on. Click the image below for a closer look at it.

Google Analytics Stats

According to Google, we are still seeing positive growth as well. Our site seems to be gaining momentum on the organic side of search results, which is always a good thing. However, we can see there is a significant bounce rate meaning a one-page visit and go. As well as only a few moments being spent on the site. With that Richard wanted us to ask you to please reach out and let him know directly via the community services email address where the site is going wrong for you and what could be done to improve it?
Instagram Stats
Once again Drakkar is blowing it out of the water with the amount of growth and interaction on Instagram. Looking at the image below you can see on Instagram we seem to be a good his as we are seeing positive growth on nearly every metric measured. Please keep in mind that due to Instagram’s limitations with analytics we can only show a week at a time and this image is for the last week of the month.

Pinterest, TikTok, Twitter, & Youtube Stats

Well, let us start with Pinterest. Looking at the image below you can see that we have more than doubled our audience as well as the amount of engagement we are seeing. That’s always a good feeling when we see people are liking our content enough to engage with it. If you are active on Pinterest you might want to come to see what we are doing over there. Its content you won’t typically find anywhere else.

TikTok is among one of the newest platforms we have gotten involved in and it is awesome for the Norse community. There is a huge presence on TikTok for the Norse and pagan communities. If you not on TikTok it might be something worth considering. Nothing says you have to post videos but in addition to the content we produce over there, there are a number of other TikTok creators that are producing some really amazing content.

Twitter, has seen a slowdown in the amount of growth with the number of new followers however we have seen an increase in the amount of interaction.

Then there is YouTube. The one social media account that seems to give us the roughest time or does it. For the first time since we have had the account, we got an email showing us that people had viewed our content for more than 125 hours. We also saw a growth in subs of 111 this month which is crazy since it took us nearly 6 months to reach 100 subs and that was with trying to do a giveaway for the 100th sub.

Volunteers Needed

As always we are still looking for a number of volunteers that are willing to commit to the Old Norse Paganism community to make it a better place.
We ask that if you elect to volunteer for a position within the community that you honor your word and stick to it no matter what. Our founder Richard believes that if you tell someone or make a commitment you honor it no matter what. That you as a person are only as good as your word! Need we say more? No more than what we ourselves do and no more than what our ancestors did.
