Suck Up Your Pride

Wow, Catchy title right? Let’s be honest we all suffer from the symptoms of pride from time to time and some of us more often than others. Recently I suffered from my own pride’s wrath, which sent me into a downward spiral of depression. So yeah I’m saying it out loud and as a lesson learned. SUCK UP YOUR PRIDE!

Pride Is Your Downfall
Think about it for a moment if you will. Just to put it into perspective here, ill use my own real-world and life experience for you. An experience that I recently had to deal with.
A friend of mine that I served with in the US Army and spent the majority of my time in service touring with recently died in combat overseas. He and I were assigned as what they referred to as battle buddies and had become quite close and were what I’d call best friends. 3 weeks ago I got that dreadful call. It broke my heart.
Now Rather than talking to anyone about how it made me feel I kept it bottled up and as a result, I fell into a battle of depression, and not even my loving wife was able to help me. Not until I was able to suck up my pride and talk with her about how that call and loss of my dear friend made me feel. To top it off is the current hatred that is spreading throughout this great nation for our military and our civil servants and the immense amount of disrespect being shown towards our nations and country with the flag burning and stomping taking place.
It was at that point that I was awoken and began to feel better and was helped.
Together We Are Stronger
As you can see it was on when I opened up to the idea of help I got better. All thanks to my loving wife. I was able to muster the strength to tell my case of depression to piss off. Tell men that’s not the perfect example of “Together We Are Stronger”? That’s only one example.
In my video above you will see that I give a number of examples. From financial help to sparing a bag of groceries to even just offering counsel to someone. Sometimes a person only needs someone to listen and nothing more. It will give them the strength they need to carry on and beat the hell out of their own pride.
Love each other. Being able to ask for help is as important as having the willingness to offer help when others are in need. Norse paganism is about a community and coming together for the good of the community. We are Norse, so let’s act like it and kick pride in the ass. Remember Pride comes in all shapes and sizes. So it is important to always be on the lookout to stop it when you catch it.
